As a special education teacher of students with significant needs I am always on the lookout for a product that doesn't break the bank and that helps to meet the needs of my students. I have seen these canoe-like sensory chairs and wanted to try them but so often they are very expensive so when I saw this I had to order even though it’s for children rather than the teenagers I work with. I do have a couple of petite students who I thought it might work for and boy did it. Oh my kiddos loved this so much, they were so happy. I made my heart so full. So when thinking about ordering, know that it got the kid seal of approval. It is well made, easy to pump up. It came with its own pump so I had all I needed to set it up as soon as I opened the box. The felt-like coating on the plastic is soft and comfortable to lay on. The tight fit when in the chair, helps students to meet their sensory needs. This is such a wonderful product, as a special needs teacher I can’t recommend this highly enough!
As soon as I finished blowing this sensory pod up my 2 year old and 6 year old jumped in a settled it, and they LOVE it. My 6 year old (AuDHD) has not left the pod since she got in there lol, and she and the 2 year old (SPD, possibly autistic) were rocking it back and forth like crazy for about 20 minutes. It is actually big enough for both of them to sit it in sitting up, and the perfect size for the older kiddo to completely lay down in it. She said its really relaxing and cozy, and she doesn't want to get out. It was pretty easy to blow up, but I do recommend filling up the bottom mattress part first, because it's hard to get to the plug area when the walls are blown up. I also recommend alternating back and forth between either side until they are evenly blown up, and stop when they are firm but you can still squish them a bit with your hands.
I really don't want to say anything bad about this product, as it is truly a life saver. Our kid really loves his new sensory pod and spends almost the entire evenings in it (especially on movie night). It was super easy to inflate and it comes with a nice quiet pump with a nice long cable. It holds the air for a long time and my kid is super comfortable inside and loves every minute there.
Bought this for my autistic 3yo daughter, and not only does she LOVE it (which is amazing because she isn’t impressed with much lol), but my 6yo son loves it as well. We did have an issue with the air not staying in, but Outree customer service was AMAZING to deal with, very quick and friendly and polite, and had a replacement to us in less than 2 days. The pod is very sturdy, soft, and comfortable, and def worth especially for the price. It is bigger than it looks, but that is good as my daughter is big for her age (already 5T-6T, and she plays very rough, so we are happy to find something sturdy enough for her to love and play with. She absolutely loves it, and loves to lay in it and feel “hugged” if you will. All in all 10/10 would definitely recommend!
