This pod is amazing. When they get fussy they just go in there and start to calm down. It is actually kind of crazy. It is comfortable for kids to rest in but also to play with. My kids have given it much abuse and it takes it all. At first I was worried they would pop it but it takes all of it. It is great for calming children, a fun imagination tool, or simply just to relax and chill in. I am very happy
All three of my kids (8, 5, and 2 years old) were instantly enamored with this sensory pod! We do keep an eye on the two-year-old when she’s using it just to be cautious because you can get kind of stuck down in there. The velvety texture of the surface snags onto your clothes too, but is considerably more comfortable than vinyl or plastic.
This item inflated easily using the pump that came with it, and the instructions were clear. Do read the instructions first because we didn’t and failed to inflate the bottom layer first, which resulted in a slightly wobbly pod. We just haven’t felt up to deflating the whole thing and starting back over yet.
It has withstood a good amount of abuse from these three hopping in an out and stuffing it full of blankets and toys; so, I would say it’s well-made. I’ve also pulled them around in it by the handles one at a time, and there is no evidence of wear yet. Also, I do have two cats in the house, one of which is a busy little kitten who gets into everything. But they haven’t seemed interested in the pod. In any case, I suspect that the outer layer is tough enough to withstand an accidental poke from a cat that is not agitated.
I haven’t hung out in the pod for a long time, but I fit in reasonably comfortably and snugly as a small/avg.-sized adult (130 lbs). My kids think it is super comfortable and even asked if they could sleep in it overnight, but I was worried about suffocation.
No one has tried it out for decompressing/ sensory overload yet since we’re still in full summer relaxation mode, but we’re looking forward to trying it out once we get into the more stressful swing of the school year.
I wholeheartedly recommend this item and think it would be great in a classroom, library, or counselor’s office in addition to at home!
Having a child with autism can be pretty rough. And having widgets or things to help calm them down is always important when I saw this I thought to myself immediately that this was going to be a good decision and it has been. Right out of the box you get an air pump and you get the pod. It was really easy to use. In the feeling of it was really good quality more like a velvety feel. I would recommend putting air at the bottom before you do the sides. My child loves it already. As soon as I got done putting air in it. She got in and I could tell that she immediately felt at ease. She got out got one of her blankets and put it right in there with her I can already tell this is really going to be comforting for her. I would recommend this to any parent of a smaller child with autism Or any kind of sensory disorder.
I am a school SLP and often work in the sensory room and this is a must have item for a sensory room or play room in my opinion. It's great for kids to play in and to read books and just regulate in general. I often rock my 3 year old in this boat and sing nursery songs or we will have blocks or balls and work on basic concepts. My two older ones love to lay in this and read books. Great for sensory regulation. Comes with a pump to allow you to inflate. Easy to inflate and fairly durable material. Just don't get it around anything sharp and pointy.
